Garden City Tomorrow. Tuesday Folder/Homework Info.

Hello families!
We are so excited to be going to Garden City tomorrow! It will be a wonderful time and we are so excited to learn more about agriculture. Please make sure your children are in uniform and dress warm! We will not be outside much, but there is one point in the afternoon where we will be exploring cotton fields. A jacket will be very useful during this portion of our trip. Your children do not need to bring anything else. Water is provided at the facility, as well as lunch.

Tuesday folders went home today because we will not have time to distribute them tomorrow. Please do not have your children bring their folders or their homework until Wednesday.

We will be departing promptly at 8:00 a.m. We will take a charter bus and return in time for dismissal. Please park in the lot across the church office to pickup your child. If they are going to after school, we will walk them to their classroom.

We're looking forward to our trip. Thanks for all your help and support. Have a wonderful evening!

Christmas Program - Sweden

Please practice this song EVERYDAY! Our class will perform this at the Christmas Program this year!

Visiting this link would be REALLY helpful!

Here are the lyrics, written as we pronounce them in English.
SANKTA LUCIA

Not-ten gore tune-gah fee-yet
Roond gored auck stoovah
Kreeng yord somb sole fore-let
Skoo-gore nah roovah

Dah-ee vort more-kah hoos
Sting-air med tonduh yuse
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia

Dah-ee vort more-kah hoos
Sting-air med tonduh yuse

Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia

SANKTA LUCIA

Natten går tunga fjät
rund gård och stuva;
kring jord, som sol förlät*,
skuggorna ruva.
Då i vårt mörka hus,
stiger med tända ljus,
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Natten går stor och stum
nu hörs dess vingar
i alla tysta rum
sus som av vingar.
Se, på vår tröskel står
vitklädd med ljus i hår
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia.

Mörkret ska flykta snart
ur jordens dalar
så hon ett underbart
ord till oss talar.
Dagen ska åter ny
stiga ur rosig sky
Sankta Lucia, Sankta Lucia

Garden City/St. Lawrence Field Trip

Hello Parents!
We have a field trip planned for next week to the Garden City Community Center and St. Lawrence Cotton Field and Cotton Gin. This trip will allow the students to explore various aspects of agriculture, as well as show them how cotton is grown, picked, cleaned, and distributed. It is a wonderful, well-planned trip that all past 3rd grade students have loved.

We will take a charter bus and the trip will take the whole school day. This trip is of no cost to your child. We simply ask that they come in their uniform (with a jacket, depending on the weather), show up NO LATER than 7:40, and return their permission form from Tuesday folder. Lunch is also provided that day, so there is no need to send a lunch with your child.

A few important things to know as we plan to go:
  • We MUST leave the school no later that 8:00 a.m. It will take us a while to get to Garden City, and the program starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. We are sharing the trip with the Garden City Third Graders, and a late departure will cause them to wait and get us off schedule, also making it more difficult to be back to school in the afternoon on time. Please make plans to have your child here between 7:30 - 7:40 a.m. so we have enough time to pass out Tuesday folders, take a restroom break, and board the bus.
  • You are more than welcome to join us on the trip. If you would like to chaperone, please indicate it on the permission form. We will take a count of all the adults wanting to go and make sure we have room on the charter bus. You may also take your own vehicle and meet us there. Students, however must ride the bus to the event.
  • Please look at the weather forecast before we leave. We spend most of the day indoors, however one portion of the trip is outside, and we do not want your child to be uncomfortable.
  • We will arrive back at school no later than 3:30 p.m. If you are picking up your child, instead of going through the carpool line, the best option it to park in the lot across from the church office and wait for us to arrive there. If your child is attending after school, we will walk them back to school and send them to their appropriate after school teacher.
I have attached a copy of the program. I hope this is helpful to you. We are looking forward to a great trip! Thank you!

Bishop Nolan High School Visit

Here are a few pictures from Bishop Nolan High School's visit to St. Ann's on Friday. The football team visited with the third graders over donuts, cookies, and juice after mass. They also visited our classroom and answered some awesome questions the students had. We had a great time! They even complimented our class on how well they did hosting the liturgy. We were so happy to have them come and see us! Keep visiting the site for a special video from Friday! :)

All Saint's Day Success!

What an incredible day we had yesterday! I couldn't be more proud of your sweet children. They worked so hard and pulled off an amazing mass and presentation. I had so many compliments from teachers, parents, students, parishioners, and priests! I was so overjoyed today to see their pictures in the Local section of the paper! If you haven't gotten a chance check it out, it is on page 4A of the Midland newspaper. We have displayed all of the student's reports with their name and Saint's symbol in the hallway of the school. Also, the House of Printing has generously offered to print large posters featuring each individual Saint. They will be displayed at the school when completed! A huge thank you goes out to them, as well as Mrs. Bredimus for taking the pictures and working with the kids on their songs. We would also like to thank Mr. Simmons and the St. Ann's Middle School Band for practicing with the students and performing at mass. Most of all, I would like to thank YOU parents for taking the time and working with your children on this project. It is such a meaningful and interesting project for the kids and it would not be accomplished without all of your efforts at home. Thank you so much! I hope you had a wonderful Halloween and enjoy the extra hour of sleep tomorrow!
