Tennis Assembly

We had a wonderful visitor this morning! Coach Valdez is the director of the Bush Tennis Center and was also one of my high school tennis coaches. He stopped by school to talk to the kids about tennis. He actively involved the students by allowing them to answer questions, play, and even learn a little bit about matches. We are so grateful he was able to come and raise awareness about this great sport. As a tennis coach at St. Ann's, I may be a little biased, but I sure hope to see some students take up the game after seeing it's great benefits. Thank you Luis for coming out!

Prayer Service, Junior Achievement, Counselor Corner, and Ash Wednesday

We had a great day today in 3rd Grade.

First, we had our "Bury the Alleluia" Prayer Service this morning. Each class created an "Alleluia" poster to bury for the Lent to signify the absence of the word during the season.

Then, we enjoyed a visit from Miss Hoffman, our Junior Achievement Teacher. She spoke with us today about communities and businesses and allowed us to set up our own town with our own businesses. We look forward to 5 more sessions with her.
Lastly, we enjoyed a visit from Mrs. Harrell for our monthly "Counselor Corner" visit. She spoke with us today about being Christian classmates and ways to avoid bullying, as well as learning the difference between tattling and reporting. The students did great with the activity and really enjoyed her lesson.
Don't forget! Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday! Please feel free to join us for Church at 8:30 a.m. Also, be sure to wear your Mass uniform. We will not go to Mass on Friday since we are going tomorrow. Have a great afternoon!

Student Appreciation Day!

We had a wonderful Student Appreciation Day on Friday! The kids looked great "dressed for success." They were treated to a donuts in the morning and then got to make pretzels with Ms. Pohl for a Lenten activity. We also created an "Alleluia" poster for our "Bury the Alleluia" Prayer service to take place on Tuesday in preparation for Ash Wednesday. We finished the day trying out the baked pretzels. The students left with a small treat bags to show our appreciation for all their hard work. In their treat bag they have a homework pass that they may use on any homework assignment. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Classification

We classified today with prepositions and objects of the preposition. The students did SO well with it. They have a classroom practice with it tonight for homework. I am posting a copy of their classifications that we did in class to help them with their Question and Answer Flow if they have trouble. Hope it helps!

Great Start to Catholic Schools Week!

What an amazing start we've had to Catholic Schools Week! We had a beautiful Mass on Sunday to kick things off and had many wonderful visitors yesterday for Parent/Grandparent Day. Thank you families for all that you do for the school. Our school could not be here without your love and support. Today we celebrate our volunteers. Our volunteers spend countless hours helping with everything from Hot Dog Day, Pizza Day, class parties, masses, and many other events. Times, treasures, and talent are donated more than we can even count and your generosity allows our school to function. Thank you! Please be on the lookout today when you pick up your child for a special treat to honor recognize your efforts. We will celebrate our community tomorrow by participating a $5 Jean Day. The House of St. Blaise is hosting this event that allows any student who brings $5 to wear Jeans and their favorite t-shirt in lieu of their uniform. All proceeds benefit the Life Center.
